Gedlibzhe is stewed chicken in sour cream sauce, a dish of Kabardian cuisine. The very word libzhe means stewing to the people. The
national dish is quite widespread among the people. Although it is not truly unique. The fact is that in Georgia, for example, there is a similar dish – Chakhokhbili. The difference between Gedlibje and Chakhokhbili is that the second dish is created without tomatoes.
Even in the Kabardian cuisine itself there is an analog of Gedlibje – it is Dzhed libje. Also stewed chicken in sour cream sauce. Let’s prepare ourselves a Kabardinian dish at home.
Ingredients:
- chicken legs – 3 pcs;
- chicken thighs – 3 pcs;
- onion – 300 g;
- garlic – 4 cloves;
- sour cream – 250 g;
- flour – 2 tbsp;
- water – 300 g;
- ground paprika – 1 tsp;
- salt – ½ tsp.
Preparation:
Thoroughly wash the chicken meat, remove the skin from the thighs and legs.
In a frying pan in vegetable oil fry the chicken on both sides until browned. In the same oil fry onions, before removing the chicken from the fire.
To the onions, press the garlic.
Add sour cream and water to the onions, add paprika and salt,
mix.
Put the chicken in the sauce, cover with a lid and stew for 20 minutes on low heat.
Gedlibje can be served with any garnish.
It is desirable to eat the chicken immediately after cooking.
