Often in stores we see salted or lightly salted mackerel. Many people even mistakenly believe that this fish can not be fried or boiled. However, mackerel can be delicious not only in the salted version.
This type of fish is rich in vitamins and trace elements. In one mackerel there is a lot of vitamin D, about 90% of the daily norm per 100 grams of fillet. In addition, the fish has vitamin E, K and A.
Of the trace elements mackerel boasts the presence of phosphorus, selenium, calcium and copper. Therefore, it is important to know how to deliciously cook mackerel in the oven.
Ingredients for baked mackerel:
- Fresh-frozen mackerel – 2 pcs;
- Salt – 0,5 tsp;
- Paprika – 1 tsp;
- Garlic – 2 cloves;
- Ground black pepper – a pinch;
- Olive oil – 1 tbsp.
Preparation of baked mackerel:
Remove the head, fins and gills from the fish, cut open the belly and remove the insides with black film. Divide both fish into 4 even fillets, remove the bones.
To prepare the marinade, mix salt, paprika and ground black pepper in a bowl with olive oil. Grate garlic on a fine grater, send it to the mixture of spices and oil.
Rub the fillet on both sides with the marinade

Leave the fish to marinate for at least 20 minutes.
Cover the baking dish with parchment and place the fillets skin side up. Grease the skin with oil, sprinkle with ground black pepper.
Bake the mackerel at 200 degrees in the oven for 10-13 minutes on the upper level.
It is recommended to handle the fish with gloves, also cover the cutting board with food film. It is better to marinate the mackerel longer, if you have time – a couple of hours.
