Shortcakes were frequent guests in school canteens and kindergartens. They were baked everywhere so that children could have a healthy and tasty snack. Nowadays it is quite difficult to find korzhiki in canteens, as they are no longer baked almost everywhere.
However, you should not forget about this wonderful dessert. You can prepare crusts on your own. The recipe for baking is simple, so even a novice cook can cope. The main thing is to understand what kind of crusts in the end you want to get. There are classic round ones with creamy flavor, there are oval ones with fruit, raisins and candied fruits, and there are Baturinsky shortcakes. Let’s bake the simplest milk shortcakes.
Ingredients for milk cakes:
- Flour – 450 g;
- Milk – 80 ml;
- Sugar – 170 g;
- Butter – 100 g;
- Egg – 1 pc;
- Baking powder – 1 tsp;
- Vanilla – a pinch;
- Salt – a pinch;
- Jam – 100 g;
- Coconut shavings – 100 g;
- Chocolate – 30 g.
Preparation of milk cakes:
Pour sugar, vanilla and salt into the hot milk, stir until the grits dissolve. Pour the melted butter into the milk, beat the egg and continue mixing.
Sift the flour and baking powder into the mixture in batches, knead the dough into an elastic and not sticky dough

Roll out the dough into 8 mm thick rounds and cut out circles with a mold.
