Korzhiki is a now forgotten Soviet dish, or rather a dessert. For us, korzhiki reminds us of Viennese waffles. Only, unlike waffles, korzhiki are not soaked in syrups and caramel.
This simple dessert was prepared in schools and kindergartens
.
Since shortcakes had a low sugar content, this dessert was healthy for children.
Nowadays, almost no one makes shortcakes
.
You should not forget this traditional dish. It can not badly diversify the tea party.
Ingredients for shortcakes:
- Hot milk – 80 ml;
- Sugar – 170 g;
- Vanilla sugar – 1 tsp;
- Salt – a pinch;
- Butter – 100 g;
- Egg – 1 pc;
- Flour – 450 g;
- Baking powder – 1 tsp.
Preparation of shortcakes:
Melt butter in the microwave, let cool slightly. Pour hot milk, granulated sugar, vanilla sugar and salt into a bowl.
Pour the butter into the milk mixture, beat the egg
and
stir. Sift the flour and baking powder into the mixture in batches and knead into an elastic and not sticky dough.
Roll out the dough into a layer no more than 8 mm thick. Use an 8 cm diameter mold to create the future shortcakes.
Transfer the shortcakes to a baking tray lined with parchment. Brush the tops of the dough with a mixture of egg yolk and milk, using a fork to create a pattern on the surface.
Bake the shortcakes in the oven at 180 degrees for 25 minutes.
This makes a great substitute for store-bought cookies. The shortcakes are creamy, flavorful and not harmful to health.
