Mankind learned about cakes quite a long time ago. This dessert at the initial stages looked completely different from what it looks like in the modern world.
The first cakes were prepared even from rye flour, adding sweet water and honey. There were no recipes for any creams and icing.
Cakes acquired solemnity only in the XVIII century. Then this dessert began to be used as an invitation to a ball or a meeting. In the XX century cakes became a commercial sweet. It became customary to put beautiful cakes on the showcase for sale.
Let’s make a beautiful birthday cake on our own.
Ingredients for the cake:
- Flour – 400 g;
- Butter – 350 g;
- Egg yolk – 4 pcs;
- Leavening agent – 10 g;
- Sour cream – 60 g;
- Egg white – 4 pcs;
- Sugar – 170 g;
- Condensed milk – 250 g.
Cake preparation:
To prepare the dough, rub 200 grams of cold butter into the flour with a grater. Add egg yolks, leavening agent and sour cream to the mixture, knead the dough.
Divide the elastic dough into three equal parts, form thick small tortillas
.
Seal each flatbread in cling film.
Put the tortillas in the freezer for an hour. In the meantime, whip the proteins with a mixer until a white airy mass is formed, gradually adding granulated sugar. Grate
one of the frozen tortillas into a baking mold to make a crust
.
Place an even layer of 1/3 of the meringue on this crust
. Make two additional crusts in the same way. Each cake with meringue bake in the oven at 170 degrees for about half an hour.
While the cakes are baking you can prepare the cream. Beat butter, gradually pour condensed milk into it.
Each cake is smeared with a thin layer of condensed milk cream, form the cake.
Send the cake to the refrigerator for an hour.

You can decorate the dessert with coconut shavings, and we recommend putting walnuts on the meringue before baking the cakes.
