Kulich is a pastry that is a must-have on Easter day. This flour product stands for symbolism in the Christian world. Each branch of Christianity has its own varieties of kulich. In addition, even in each country the kulich is prepared differently.
At the same time, the meaning of the kulich remains unchanged. It is a delicate dough covered with snow-white glaze and sprinkles. Inside the kulich there are candied fruits, raisins, chocolate and nuts. It
is obligatory to leave a place on the festive table for religious baking. It is better to prepare kulich on your own. Such home baking is necessary in the family. Let’s bake a kulich on our own.
Ingredients for kulich:
- Flour – 1700 g;
- Milk – 500 ml;
- Raw yeast – 70 g;
- Sugar – 500 g;
- Egg – 7 pcs;
- Vanilla sugar – 10 g;
- Salt – 1 tsp;
- Butter – 200 g;
- Vegetable oil – 70 g;
- Sour cream 20% – 250 g;
- Zest of 1 lemon;
- Raisins – 400 g.
Preparation of kulich:
For the opara in warm milk pour 3 spoons of flour from the total amount, as well as yeast and 5 spoons of flour, stir.
At this time break eggs one by one in a separate container, pour sugar, vanilla sugar and salt to them, beat until homogeneous

Pour
vegetable oil and sour cream into the egg mixture, mix.
Pour the flour into the mixture in batches, knead the dough. With the second addition of flour, pour in the same washed raisins and lemon zest, continue kneading.
Add opara to the dough, knead and add a third of the flour. In the last turn add soft butter and knead until the dough starts to come away from the container in one piece.
Leave the dough under a towel for 1.5 hours. Grease the kulich molds with vegetable oil, place the dough in them ⅓ of the time.
Bake the kulichi at 180 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
After cooking, you can make a glaze of whites and sugar, decorate the kulichi.
