The exact origin of banana pudding is unknown, but it is believed to have originated in the 19th century in North America. Banana
pudding is a dessert of custard topped with bananas and vanilla icing

In different countries, banana pudding can have its own peculiarities. For example, in the US it is often prepared with vanilla and cinnamon, and in the UK – with caramel sauce.
Today, banana pudding remains a popular dessert in many countries around the world. It can be made with different additives, allowing for many variations of this dessert.
Ingredients:
- milk – 650 ml;
- yolks – 4 pcs;
- sugar – 125 g;
- cornstarch – 50 g;
- salt – a pinch;
- butter – 30 g;
- vanilla paste – 2 tsp;
- cream 35% – 150 g;
- powdered sugar – 15 g;
- banana – 3 pcs;
Ingredients for cookies:
- sugar – 80 g;
- butter – 100 g;
- flour – 150 g;
- egg – pcs;
- vanilla extract – 2 tsp;
- leavening agent – 2 g.
Preparation of banana pudding:
In a saucepan with milk pour ⅓ of the total amount of sugar, add vanilla paste and on medium heat bring to the first bubbles. Pour the rest of the sugar and salt into the yolks, stir with a whisk until the grains of sand are dissolved.
Pour the starch into the yolks, stir. Gradually pour hot milk into the yolk mixture, mix the components.
Put the resulting mass from the yolks in a saucepan

Cook the mixture over medium heat, bring to thickening. Cook the cream at thickening 3-4 minutes stirring constantly.
Put butter in the cream base, stir. Transfer the pudding into a separate container, cover with cling film and leave to cool.
For the vanilla cookies, pour the sugar and vanilla extract into the soft butter, beat the egg and stir. Sift the flour and
baking
powder into the cream mixture and knead the dough
. Place small portions of dough on a baking tray lined with parchment and bake at 180 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Pour powdered sugar into the cream, whisk
. Separately whisk the cooled custard base, add it gradually to the cream, gently whisk. Put ⅓ of the pudding in a plate, put banana slices on it as a second layer.
On the banana layer put lightly chopped cookies, cover with pudding

Repeat the layers of bananas and cookies, finishing with a layer of pudding.
Leave the dessert in the refrigerator for at least a couple of hours, or better for 8 hours.
Decorate the pudding with cookie crumbs or caramelized nuts.
For caramelization it is worthwhile to melt butter in a frying pan, melt sugar in it. Place the nuts in the pan and caramelize them. Then you can add a little rum, whiskey or other alcohol to the nuts.
