Large pies always signified some major celebration. As a rule, meat pies were prepared for weddings and Orthodox holidays. On ordinary days people baked small portioned pies with vegetables and fruits. The
point is that meat pies were costly to cook. Meat in peasant families was valued. Therefore, no one could constantly bake meat pies, except the wealthy.
Now the attitude to meat pies has changed. They are cooked more often than all the others. This is a good hearty dinner and lunch.
Quickly prepare a meat pie can be made according to this recipe.
Ingredients of the dough for meat pie:
- Flour – 500 g;
- Butter – 220 g;
- Sugar – 1 tsp;
- Salt – tsp;
- Kefir – 100 ml;
- Mayonnaise – 100 g;
- Leavening agent – 10 g.
Ingredients for stuffing:
- Meat – 300 g;
- Potatoes – 2 pcs;
- Onions – 2 pcs;
- Vegetable oil – 50 ml;
- Salt – ½ tsp;
- Zira – ⅓ tsp;
- Coriander – ½ tsp;
- Black pepper – a pinch.
Preparation of meat pie:
Dip cold butter in flour and grate it coarsely. Mix the butter and flour, grind until crumbly
. Pour salt, baking powder and sugar to the crumb, pour in kefir and mayonnaise, mix. Quickly form a batter with your hands, leave in cellophane in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Cut peeled potatoes, meat and onions into small cubes

Mix the ingredients with salt, zira, coriander and black pepper and vegetable oil.
Divide the dough into two equal parts, roll out the dough sheets in an area equal to the baking mold and its sides. Place the

on the bottom of the mold, covering the sides.

Brush the top of the pie with egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake the pie at 180 degrees for 45 minutes.
