Many people know doughnuts either because of Soviet pyshkas or because of American advertising, where doughnuts are very popular. For all the fame of this sweet type of pastry, it turns out that it is quite ancient.
Doughnuts were first baked in ancient Rome. For this purpose, ground seeds were used, and dough was made from them. This dough was
used
to mold buns with a large hole in the middle.
Later doughnuts reminded about themselves in the XV century. Then they were cooked in Holland, and then migrated to the U.S.

Ingredients for doughnuts:
- flour – 300 g;
- water – 170 ml;
- quick yeast – 8 g;
- sugar – 2 tsp;
- salt – 1/2 tsp;
- vegetable oil – 540 g;
- powdered sugar – 10 g.
Preparation of doughnuts:
Pour yeast and granulated sugar into warm water, mix and leave until the yeast cap appears. Pour salt into the flour, pour the yeast water, 40 ml of vegetable oil and knead the dough
. Cover the dough block with cling film and leave it for a short period of time. Knead the dough on a table greased with vegetable oil. Put the dough in a deep bowl, cover it with cellophane and leave it warm for 30-40 minutes.
Oil the table again and divide the dough into small rolls

Make a hole in the middle of each doughnut with your finger and stretch it slightly.
Leave the doughnuts under food foil for 10-15 minutes. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan and put the doughnuts in it. Fry the doughnuts over medium heat for 2 minutes on each side.
Don’t forget to leave space between the doughnuts.
Place the doughnuts on a paper towel to let the oil drip off.
Sprinkle the doughnuts with powdered sugar before serving.
