My signature recipe for two-layer pie: the result is always unexpected, even though the ingredients are the simplest

Walnut pies are an interesting dessert that is sure to be enjoyed by many. It is a mixture of spicy nuts with a sweet dough. The inner nut layer permeates the pie, making it juicy and even sweeter.

Everywhere pecan pies are baked differently. Each country has its own recipes for pecan baking. For example, pecan pie is famous in America. It is baked with pecans, corn syrup and lots of sugar. This gives the pie a special caramel note with a nutty aftertaste

.In France, pecan tart is common. As a rule, walnuts are used for the dessert. They are caramelized for a long time to create a unique taste of tart

. In Greece, baklava is popular – it is a layered cake made of phyllo dough and different types of nuts: walnuts, pistachios and almonds. Let’s tell you how to prepare a simpler, but no less sweet spicy walnut pie.

Ingredients:

  • Butter – 160 g;
  • Sour cream 15% – 150 g;
  • Sugar – 120 g;
  • Vanilla sugar – 10 g;
  • Salt – ½ tsp;
  • Eggs – 2 pcs;
  • Baking powder – 2 tsp;
  • Flour – 430 g.

Ingredients for the filling:

  • apricots – 330 g;
  • Sugar – 140 g;
  • Nuts – 350 g;
  • Egg yolk – 1 pc;
  • Milk – 1 tbsp.

Preparation of nut cake:

Soft butter is mixed with sugar, salt and vanilla sugar.

Break eggs to the butter, add sour cream and mix

Sift some of the flour and baking powder into the mixture and knead a thick dough.

Sift the rest of the flour into the dough and knead an elastic soft dough

Knead the

dough

on a table dusted with flour,

make the dough elastic and slightly sticky, and put it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes under cellophane

For the filling, lightly dry the nuts in a frying pan and then chop them to fine crumbs in a blender

. Pour 70 grams of sugar to the nuts and stir. For the second filling in a saucepan mix apricots with 70 grams of sugar and water, cook over medium heat for 10 minutes.

Chop apricots in a blender to a homogeneous mass. Then knead the dough on a table sprinkled with flour, form a sausage.

Divide the dough into three parts, one 350 grams, the other two 250 grams each. Roll out the largest piece of dough into a 30-cm-diameter

layer. Put the dough into a baking dish, placing the dough on the bottom and sides.

The length of the sides should be at least 3 cm.

Prick the bottom of the dough with a fork over the entire surface.

Roll out

the first layer of chopped nuts, tamping them down slightly.

Roll out the second dough on the diameter of the mold and place it on the nut layer. Put the apricot filling on the dough layer and cover it with the last layer of dough.

If the apricot filling is not well distributed, moisten your hands and spread the filling with wet fingers. You can cut the sides of the pastry too high.

Prick the top of the pie with a fork. Brush the top with a mixture of egg yolk and milk. Decorate the pie with chopped nuts without sugar.
