Kulichi refer to a type of religious baked goods that relate to the celebration of the Bright Easter holiday. As a rule, Christians in different countries celebrate this event.

In Italy, the kulich is Panettone, a sweet bread with a crust of almonds and sugar. It is baked not only at Easter, but also at Christmas.

In addition to Panettone, in Italy there is Colomba. This type of kulich is already designed specifically for the celebration of Easter. It got its name because of the fact that when baked, the bread looks like a dove.

Let’s tell you how to prepare a traditional kulich at home.

Ingredients for kulich:

  • Eggs – 4 pcs;
  • Milk – 250 ml;
  • Butter – 125 g;
  • Sour cream – 250 g;
  • Sugar – 225 g;
  • Vanilla sugar – 2 tsp;
  • Salt – ½ tsp;
  • Dry yeast – 8 g;
  • Flour – 700 g;
  • Raisins – 150 g.

Ingredients for the glaze:

  • The white of 1 egg;
  • Powdered sugar – 200 g;
  • Lemon juice – 1 tsp.

Preparation of kulich:

In a large bowl, mix eggs with milk, pour melted butter into them, add sour cream. Thoroughly mix the components, pour classic and vanilla sugar, salt.

In a bowl with flour pour yeast, mix the loose products. Sift the flour and yeast into the mixture of eggs, sour cream and milk.

Knead a thick dough, add washed dried raisins

After kneading, leave the dough under a lid and a towel for 2.5 hours.

Mix the dough in a bowl and again leave it under a lid for an hour. Grease your hands with vegetable oil and place ⅓ of the dough in the molds.

Leave the dough in the molds for 30 minutes and then bake at 180 degrees for 40 minutes.
