Not a pie, but gold. Recipe from my mom’s cookbook: banana pie at home

The history of banana cake began in Latin America, from where bananas spread around the world. In tropical countries, bananas are one of the staple foods, and locals used them to prepare various dishes, including baked goods.

In Europe and North America, bananas became popular only in the twentieth century, when supplies from tropical countries were established. From that moment, the active use of bananas in cooking began. Banana pie is a dessert that consists of several layers soaked in cream based on banana puree. Its history began in the 1930s, when the first recipes for banana pies and cakes began to appear in the United States and Europe.

Let’s prepare a modern version of homemade banana

pie.

Ingredients for the sponge cake:

  • eggs – 4 pcs;
  • sugar – 120 g;
  • flour – 120 g;
  • salt – a pinch;
  • leavening agent – 1 tsp.

Ingredients for banana cream:

  • banana – 2 pcs;
  • sour cream – 300 g;
  • sugar – 2 tbsp;
  • vanillin – 1 g;
  • starch – 1.5 tsp;
  • butter – 80 g.

Ingredients for impregnation:

  • boiling water – 200 ml;
  • condensed milk – 3 tbsp;
  • caramel – 50 ml;
  • chocolate – 50 g.

Preparation of banana cake:

In a bowl, beat the eggs with salt and sugar until puffy white foam. Sift flour and

baking

powder gradually into the egg mixture, knead the biscuit dough into an airy

biscuit

dough. Pour the dough into a baking dish lined with parchment.

Bake the biscuit at 180 degrees for 35 minutes.

For the cream, whip bananas with a teaspoon of sour cream in a blender until mashed. Pour the mashed bananas into a saucepan, add the sugar and the rest of the sour cream, pour vanillin and starch.

Cook the mixture over medium heat until thickened, and then transfer

a separate bowl to cool.

We do not forget to cover the custard base with food wrap “incontact”.

Divide the finished biscuit into two crusts. Beat butter with a mixer to white stable peaks, to it gradually add the custard base.

Mix condensed milk in boiling water and soak the cakes with the liquid. Also soak the crusts with caramel

. Smear each crust with cream, assemble the pie. The

Decorate the pie with finely grated chocolate.
