Pies are one of the most versatile types of baked goods. They exist in most cuisines around the world. For example, there are pies in China called Nikman. As a rule, Chinese pies are made of yeast rice dough. Meat pies are very popular, but fish and vegetable pies are also common.
In Latin American cuisine, pies are referred to as Turnover pies
.
These pies are similar to ours, as they have a yeast base and are baked with meat, vegetables and fruits.
In our state, potato pies are relevant. Let’s give a simple way to prepare them.
Ingredients of the dough for potato pies:
- Kefir – 250 g;
- Egg – 1 pc;
- Salt – 1 tsp;
- Sugar – 1 tbsp;
- Vegetable oil – 30 ml;
- Flour – 400 g;
- Baking powder – 1 tsp.
Ingredients for the filling:
- Potatoes – 400 g;
- Onion – 1 pc;
- Parsley – a bundle;
- Salt – ½ tsp.
Preparation of potato pies:
In a bowl with kefir break an egg, pour salt and granulated sugar, mix. Pour into the bowl with kefir vegetable oil, sift flour combined with baking powder. Mix the dough with a spatula, form an elastic and not sticky lump
. Leave the dough under a cellophane bag for 15 minutes. Mashed potato the boiled and peeled potatoes in advance.
To prepare the filling, dice the onions into small cubes and fry until golden in a frying pan. Chop parsley finely, add it together with the onion to the mashed potatoes, salt and mix.
Divide the dough into 16 equal parts, form rolls. Cover a part of the koloboks with a cellophane bag so that they don’t get stale
. Use your hands to create thick tortillas from the koloboks, put a tablespoon of stuffing in the middle of each one. Seal the filling inside the dough.
Place patties in a skillet with hot vegetable oil seam side down. Fry the patties until browned on both sides.
These pies can be cooked not only with potatoes. Also for the recipe of the dough is suitable meat filling, with onions and eggs.
