The Belarusian national dish is known far beyond the country’s borders. Draniki is cooked in many restaurants not related to the cuisine of Belarus. The fact is that derauns (the second name of potato fritters) are considered a universal dish. They can be combined with soups, second courses, meat and even salads
. Some European nations tried to assure the world community that drauniki appeared earlier in their culture. However, it was the Belarusians who were able to bring the recipe for cooking potato cakes to perfection.
In addition to the classic recipe for draaniki, there are ways of cooking with meat.
