Beet salad is a source of many vitamins and minerals. It is not only tasty, but also useful for the body. It is not necessary to make beet salad boring. It can be diversified with a large number of ingredients.
With beet is perfectly combined with herring. This fish gives beets a special aroma and taste, which will remind another dish – “Herring under a fur coat”.
Pickled cucumber and onions also go well with beets. Adding these components to the salad is mandatory. Without them, you will not get such a tart flavor, for which beet salads are so loved.
Eggs more shade the sharp flavor notes of the dish. They make the salad hearty and more tender. A similar role is also played by mayonnaise. In addition, this sauce is a binder for all the layers of the salad.
Let’s prepare a simple salad with beets, herring and pickles
Ingredients:
- Beets – 4 pcs;
- Herring – 2 pcs;
- Pickled cucumbers – 5 pcs;
- Eggs – 3 pcs;
- Garlic – 1 clove;
- Onion – 1 pc;
- Salt;
- Mayonnaise.
Preparation of salad “Winter Smak”:
Cut quarter rings onion, boiled beets rub on a coarse grater. If the beets are watery, the excess liquid is better to drain.
Cut a small dice of herring fillets. Clean the fish from the skin and bones in advance.
Grate garlic on a fine grater and put it in the mayonnaise. Lay out the first layer of half of the beets, smear with mayonnaise.
Rub on the beet layer boiled eggs, cover with a mesh of mayonnaise. Rub also pickled cucumbers and put on the layer of eggs.
Smear the cucumber layer with mayonnaise, put herring on it.
On the herring lay the onions, cover with mayonnaise net.
All layers are covered with the rest of the beet, smear it with mayonnaise

You can optionally replace the herring with mackerel, you will get no less tasty salad.
