Cabbage is one of the most useful vegetables on the planet. It has accompanied mankind almost always. Different peoples have myths and legends about the origin of cabbage.

For ordinary people, cabbage was considered an important source of food. Cabbage was used to make casseroles, soups and pies. Peasants had no money for meat. Therefore, meat dishes were replaced by vegetable dishes, often cabbage.

This was an important step in the development of recipes for cabbage dishes. Let’s talk about pickled cabbage, which can be prepared quickly.

Ingredients for pickled cabbage:

  • Water – 500 ml;
  • Salt – 1 tbsp;
  • Sugar – 2,5 tbsp;
  • Laurel leaf – 2 pcs;
  • Black pepper peas – 8 pcs;
  • Cabbage – 1 kg;
  • Carrots – 1 pc;
  • Pepper – 0,5 pcs;
  • Garlic – 2 cloves;
  • Apple cider vinegar – 60 ml;
  • Vegetable oil – 60 ml.

Preparation of pickled cabbage:

Pour water into a saucepan, add salt, granulated sugar, bay leaf and peas of black pepper. Bring the water to a boil, cook for 5 minutes.

Finely chop cabbage, grate carrots on a coarse grater. Clean the sweet pepper from the insides, cut into thin slices. Knead garlic cloves with a knife, chop.

Mix cabbage with carrots, peppers and garlic

Add vegetable oil and apple cider vinegar to the vegetable mass. Put the cabbage mixture in a 2-liter jar
