Cakes don’t always have to have a lot of cream and sprinkles. If you want to make a delicious cake for yourself, you can limit yourself to baking a sponge cake. As a rule, this is often the most airy and juicy cake. Cream is intended as an addition to the cake.

For example, in ancient Greece, they did not know how to make cream. For this reason, the Greeks prepared only a semblance of sponge cake. As impregnation, the ancient people used honey and alcohol.

Let’s try to prepare a cake consisting only of impregnated sweet sponge cake in Greek.

Ingredients for Greek cake:

  • eggs – 2 pcs;
  • white vinegar – tbsp. l;
  • vanilla sugar – tsp;
  • leavening agent – tbsp;
  • sugar – 100 g;
  • flour – 17 tbsp;
  • salt – pinch;
  • milk – 200 ml;
  • vegetable oil – 110 ml.

Preparation of Greek cake:

In a bowl to the eggs pour vanilla and classic sugar, salt and mix everything thoroughly with a whisk. As soon as the sugar dissolves in the eggs, gradually pour vegetable oil into the mixture.

Then pour milk into the egg mixture and again mix the ingredients thoroughly

Sift flour into the egg mixture, with the first part add leavening agent.

After kneading the liquid dough, pour white vinegar into it. Mix the vinegar in the dough, pour it into a baking mold (28×22 cm). In advance, the mold should be greased with butter

. The dough is evenly distributed on the mold. Bake the biscuit in the oven at 180 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
