Travel pirozhki are not just a traditional dish, but an important symbol of Russian culinary culture, reflecting centuries-old customs, associations with travel and delicious home-cooked food. These small but hearty buns are perfect for snacking on the go because they are easy to transport, easy to hold and require no additional utensils.

Pirozhki are filled with a variety of foods – from meat and vegetable to sweet fruit and berry fillings, which allows everyone to choose the option they like best.

Historically, travel pirozhki could be part of the diet of travelers spending long periods of time on the road – whether by train, car or on foot. These days, they remain relevant, often becoming a favorite at picnics, destination weddings, and other outdoor events where portability and the ability to grab a quick bite is important.

Ingredients:

  • warm water – 60 ml;
  • live yeast – 20 g;
  • flour – 630 g;
  • salt – ½ tbsp;
  • sugar – 1 tsp;
  • milk – 420 ml;
  • egg – 1 pc;
  • vegetable oil – 4 tbsp.

Preparation of pirozhki on the road:

Milk first mix with eggs, and then pour salt, stir. Gradually introduce flour into the milk, knead the dough. Leave about 100 grams of flour for dusting

. Preliminary in warm water pour yeast and sugar, stir. Pour into the dough and continue kneading. When the dough becomes difficult to knead with a spatula, continue kneading with your hands.

Pour vegetable oil into the dense dough, stir it into the dough for 7 minutes. At this point you can add flour, which is left for dusting.

Leave the dough under cellophane in the heat for 40-50 minutes. Next, knead the dough and divide it into 75-gram balls.

Roll out the dough with your hands into small tortillas with a diameter of 5-6 cm, put any unsweetened filling in them. Seal the filling in the dough and place the patties with the seams facing down.

You can press the patties down a little to make them flatter. In a frying pan in hot vegetable oil, fry the patties on both sides until browned.

It is important to place the patties seam side down.
