When mentioning various salads from all over the world, it is impossible not to focus on dishes from the Soviet Union. In the cookbooks of the USSR, you can find many interesting names of various salads. However, most of them have not been cooked anywhere for a long time.
Probably the reason why people forget Soviet salads is the arrival of new dishes from Europe and Asia. Therefore, a large number of interesting dishes from the USSR seem banal to us.
There are salads that are worth paying attention to. In cafes and restaurants, they will not be popular. But on your holiday table these salads will be in demand.
Let’s prepare a salad “General” from budget and affordable products.
Ingredients for salad “General”:
- boiled meat – 250 g;
- mayonnaise – 3 tablespoons;
- boiled eggs – 4 pcs;
- boiled beet – pcs;
- boiled carrots – pcs;
- cheese – 100 g.
Preparation of salad “General”:
Chop peeled carrots and beets on small grater teeth. Cut small pieces of boiled meat. We lay out the first layer of meat, smear it with mayonnaise.
On the meat layer we put the carrot mass, similarly smear

with mayonnaise sauce. Grate cheese finely, create a cheese pillow on the carrot layer.
