The history of crab sticks began in Japan in the 1970s. At that time, Sugiyo Co. invented surimi, a product made from white fish meat that resembled crab meat in texture and color. Surimi was used to make an imitation of crab meat, and the product was called “Kanikama”.
Crab sticks were first introduced to the USSR in the 1980s and quickly became popular. They were available and inexpensive, and also had a pleasant taste and a convenient shape for preparing salads.

Let’s prepare together a crab salad “Tenderness”.
Ingredients:
- Crab sticks – 200 g;
- Lemon juice – 1 tbsp;
- Eggs – 5 pcs;
- Cucumbers – 1 pc;
- Green onions – a bundle;
- Dill – a bunch;
- Melted cheese – 2 pcs;
- Mayonnaise – 100 g.
Preparation:
Grate crab sticks on a fine grater, mix them with lemon juice. Boil hard-boiled eggs, peel and divide into yolks and whites. Grate the whites on a coarse grater
. Put the whites in a cooking ring, tamp them down and smear with mayonnaise. Put
crab
sticks on the protein layer, smear with mayonnaise.
Cut cucumber into thin bars, put it on the crab layer. Shinkuem finely green onions and dill, sprinkle on the cucumber
layer. Smear the layer of cucumbers and greens with a mesh of mayonnaise. Grate melted cheese on a coarse grater and put it on the layer of greens
. Grate yolks on a fine grater and sprinkle them on
the
cheese layer. Cover the ring with the salad with food film and put it in the refrigerator for half an hour.
You get a light salad with crab sticks.
It can be decorated with greens at will, served as one of the main dishes.
