Cakes are a very symbolic type of dessert. As a rule, they are prepared for some large-scale event. For example, for a wedding, birthday, anniversary. However, such a tradition of preparing a cake for a celebration was not always in the culture of people.
Up until the XVII century, cakes were prepared as if it were a special kind of cake. With the advent of air cream, refined sugar and yeast, the idea of this dessert changed.
Cakes began to be prepared for the elite of society. This dessert replaced the postcard with invitations to balls and meetings.
Now cakes have slightly changed their meaning. It is worth preparing this sweet dessert at home.
Ingredients for homemade cake:
- eggs – 2 pcs;
- berries – 400 g;
- sugar – 150 g;
- lemon zest;
- vanilla sugar – 10 g;
- flour – 250 g;
- butter – 75 g;
- leavening agent – 8 g;
- Greek yogurt – 150 g.
Preparation of homemade cake:
Beat in a bowl the eggs with classic and vanilla sugar until the grit dissolves. Melt butter, pour it together with Greek yogurt into the egg mixture, stir.
Combine flour and baking powder, sift in parts into the egg mixture, kneading a thick dough
.
Add the lemon zest and berries to the bowl with the dough. If the berries are large, cut them in two.
Mix all the ingredients into the dough until the berries give juice and color the dough.
Cover a baking mold (diameter 22 cm) with parchment, put the dough there, spread it evenly over the mold.
Bake the cake at 180 degrees for about 33 minutes.
Berries in the process of baking will sink to the bottom, give their juice. You can use these crusts for further assembling of the cake or serve for tea without changes.
