How many different holiday salads do you know? Most will answer that they constantly prepare Herring under Shuba, Olivier, Caesar, Mimosa. Without a doubt, these salads have become best sellers on any holiday table. They are prepared for any holiday, whether it is New Year’s Eve or Birthday. However, do not forget that the constant presence of the same salads on the holiday can get boring. It
is always necessary to dilute the classic salads with new dishes. Now on the Internet there are many different recipes for unusual salads. Some of these dishes can be questionable for the holiday table, because they look simple or are prepared from incompatible products.
Let’s tell about a good variant of a new salad for the holiday table.
Ingredients for the salad:
- Sprats – 400 g;
- Garlic – 2 cloves;
- Pickled cucumbers – 100 g;
- Carrots – 4 pcs;
- Onions – pcs;
- Potatoes – 4 pcs;
- Egg – 4 pcs;
- Beet – 2 pcs;
- Mayonnaise.
Preparation of the salad:
Cut the onion into a small cube, similarly cut pickles, lay them out in a salad bowl. Pour out the oil from the sprats, put the fish in the salad.
Knead the sprats in the mixture of onions and cucumbers, put garlic cloves through the press, mix. Boil potatoes, carrots and beets until ready.
Peel potatoes and grate them on a coarse grater, put ½ of them in a cooking ring. Smear each layer of the salad with mayonnaise.
Put ½ of the sprat mass on the potato layer. Grate carrots on a coarse grater, put half of them on the layer of sprat mass.
Boil hard-boiled eggs, peel and grate them on a coarse grater

Put a part of eggs on the layer of carrots. Repeat all the layers again. Peel
and grate beet on a coarse grater, create the last layer on the salad. Smear the beet layer with mayonnaise and leave to soak for 8-12 hours.
Unlike Herring under Shuba, this salad has a smoked flavor.
This makes this salad different from the classic Shuba recipe.
