Flatbread is a special type of bakery product popular in Central Asia, the Caucasus and the Orient. The inhabitants of many eastern countries treat flatbread with respect. Flatbreads are revered just as bread is revered in European countries. For Arabs, flatbread is the analog of bread, which feeds families for many centuries.
The traditions of handling flatbread are strict. It is not allowed to throw the flatbread on the floor, cut it, or put it in the trash.
To this day, Central Asians and Orientals try not to ignore the simple rules of respect for tortillas.
Let’s make potato tortillas together at home

Ingredients for potato tortillas:
- boiled potatoes – 300 g;
- kefir – 200 ml;
- salt – tsp;
- baking soda – ½ tsp;
- flour – 550 g;
- dill – 30 g.
Preparation of potato cakes:
Grind boiled potatoes to a mashed state, mix with warm kefir. Pour salt and baking soda into the mixture, mix thoroughly.
Shinkle finely dill, add to the mashed potatoes

Pour the flour into the puree and knead the dough. Continue to knead the dough with your hands on a table greased with vegetable oil.
Divide the dough into rolls – 10 pieces.
Leave the rolls under cellophane for 20 minutes in the warmth. Next, knead the koloboks into thick tortillas.
In a frying pan in vegetable oil, fry the tortillas on both sides until golden.
As a result, we have delicious potato cakes for every day.
This pastry can replace the usual bread.
