Potatoes have become an important part of people’s diet. Nowadays, it is hard to imagine not having a side dish in the form of mashed potatoes. This vegetable has become tightly associated with chips, fried foods, and side dishes. However, the love for potatoes has been brewing for centuries. Initially, this vegetable was not consumed as food.
In the XVI century, when Europeans first learned about potatoes, this vegetable was considered an ornamental plant. After mankind tasted the leaves of the potato, many refused to use it.
Only centuries later, they began to study potatoes and add them to many dishes. Let’s prepare, for example, a potato appetizer.
Ingredients for potato appetizer:
- potatoes – 2 pcs;
- salt – 2 pinches;
- paprika – 1/2 tsp;
- black pepper;
- cornstarch – 2 tbsp;
- egg – pcs;
- cheese – 1 tbsp;
- Italian herbs;
- breadcrumbs.
Preparation of potato appetizer:
Boil to readiness peeled potatoes, diced in advance. Mashed potato the potatoes, mix with salt, paprika, black pepper, Italian herbs and starch.
Chop dill finely to taste and add it to the potato mixture. Knead the potato mixture and divide into 4 parts.
Roll each part into a sausage, flatten slightly with a fork.
Divide the sausages into several pieces.
Grate cheese into a bowl with breadcrumbs, break and beat an egg separately.
Dip each potato piece into the egg mixture and then into the breadcrumbs and cheese. On vegetable oil in a skillet fry potato pieces in breading until golden crust.
