The popularity of herring is legendary. People of different countries like this fish so much that there are currently more than 10,000 different types of dishes with it. Every day about 10 million fish of this species are eaten
, and mostly we see either Pacific or Atlantic herring on the shelves
. There is also Baltic herring, which is used to make sprat, i.e. “Riga sprats”.
Availability and taste qualities of herring made it a favorite dish of northern peoples. The fish contains a lot of nutrients, which is important in cold conditions.
Let’s create tartlets-baskets of pita with filling with their own hands. And from herring a delicious appetizer for a festive table.
Ingredients:
- cream cheese – 150 g;
- sour cream – 50 g;
- creamy horseradish – 1 tbsp;
- ground black pepper – a pinch;
- dill – 2 tbsp;
- herring fillet – 180 g;
- boiled eggs – 2 pcs;
- salad leaves;
- pita.
Preparation:
Basket tartlets from pita are prepared as follows: cut out circles of pita of the necessary diameter, that is, equal to the diameter of the molds.
Lay out the circles of pita in the mold, press the top with the second mold.
Put the molds on a baking tray, bake the tartlets at 220 degrees for 5 minutes or at 200 degrees for 10 minutes.
Carefully remove the molds from the tartlets.
For the filling: mix cream cheese with creamy horseradish and fat sour cream, mix. Pour into the mixture chopped dill. Cut into small cubes peeled boiled eggs, pour into the mixture and mix everything thoroughly.
From the herring fillet separate a few nice neat transverse pieces

Cut the rest of the fish into small cubes, add the herring to the stuffing together with ground black pepper.
Cover the bottom of the tartlets with cabbage leaves and put the stuffing inside

On top of the stuffing in the tartlets put pieces of herring.
You can also use grainy mustard and dill for decoration.
This is a great option for an appetizer for a festive table from simple products.
