Swedish meatballs are a special meat dish that is the pride of the national cuisine. The folk name for such meatballs is meatballs. They are cooked both in miniature and large cutlets. Meatballs or Swedish meatballs are served in a special sauce.
Thanks to one famous brand of Swedish furniture, the whole world quickly learned about meatballs. This dish became one of the most sold in the price list of the Swedish furniture company.
However, the Swedes do not make any special profit on their meatballs. It’s a national and family dish. It should not be commercial, as people think.
Let’s make Swedish large meatballs at home.
Ingredients for Swedish meatballs:
- minced meat – 500 g;
- eggs – 1 pc;
- salt – ½ tsp;
- ground black pepper – ⅓ tsp;
- mustard – 1/3 tsp;
- flour – 1 tbsp;
- semolina – 2 tbsp;
- kefir 2.5% – 125 g;
- dill – a bunch;
- parsley – a bunch;
- green onion – a bunch;
- sour cream cheese;
- vegetable oil – 30 ml;
- dried garlic – 1 tsp;
- chopped tomatoes and sweet pepper – 300 g.
Preparation of Swedish meatballs:
Break an egg into the minced meat, pour salt and ground black pepper, add mustard. Pour into the stuffing also flour and semolina, pour in kefir.
Chop finely bunches of dill, parsley and green onions. Add greens to the bowl with minced meat, mix the components thoroughly
. Cut cheese into large bars. Form thick cutlets of minced meat, where we put cheese. Seal the cheese bars in the minced meat.
Fry meatballs in a pan with vegetable oil until browned on both sides.
Pour the dried garlic to the meatballs, pour in the tomato and pepper mixture.
Braise the meatballs under a lid in the pan for 20 minutes over low heat.
Meatballs can be served with any garnish. For example, meatballs go well with pasta.
