You’ve probably encountered the problem of excess garnish. More often than not, we make more mashed potatoes than we need. Potatoes are not a particularly expensive vegetable, so we are not afraid to dispose of them if we have too much mashed potatoes.
However, we usually do not dispose of the mashed potatoes correctly. If you simply throw the garnish in the garbage, you should stop doing this. From such machinations with products, the environment and animals suffer. Animals find leftover food in garbage cans and feed on it. In doing so, they then experience serious digestive problems.
There are more rational ways to use a side dish not consumed in time. We will tell you one of the ways how to make potato tortillas.
Ingredients for potato tortillas:
- potatoes – 400 g;
- flour – 550 g;
- sugar – tsp;
- yeast – tbsp;
- salt – tsp;
- egg – pcs.
Preparation of potato cakes:
Pre-cleaned potatoes boil until ready. filter 250 ml of broth, press potatoes to the state of mashed potatoes. Pour the broth
into the mashed pot
atoes, add egg, salt and sugar.
After mixing the components into the mashed potatoes, pour yeast into the liquid mass. After the yeast has reacted, you can sift flour into the puree. Knead a homogeneous, slightly sticky dough. Leave the dough under cellophane in the warmth for an hour.
Then knead the lump of dough, dividing it into six equal parts. Knead each lump into a thick tortilla, make a small hole in the middle.
Create a frying pan and vegetable oil. Transfer the tortillas into the hot oil and fry until golden.
This is a good way to properly utilize yesterday’s potato side dish. The tortillas will make an excellent addition to soups or to morning slices.
