Potato dishes have always been popular with people. Potatoes became especially relevant in the XX century. Until then, most people in Europe were not friends with this vegetable. The fact is that the potato was an exotic vegetable. Therefore, they did not know how to eat it. People ate the upper part, leaves and flowers, which are poisonous. This led to mass deaths, which was bad for the potato’s reputation.
But, after a while, most people learned to cook potatoes

It replaced turnips and other vegetables previously consumed by millions.
Now potatoes can be used to make many dishes. For example, fried potato cakes with gravy.
Ingredients for potato cakes:
- potatoes – 2 pcs;
- salt;
- parsley – 8 leaves;
- cheddar cheese – 100 g;
- cornstarch – 30 g;
- vegetable oil – 50 ml.
Ingredients for the sauce:
- mushrooms – 6 pcs;
- vegetable oil – 40 ml;
- salt;
- flour – 10 g;
- milk – 100 ml;
- black pepper.
Preparation of potato cakes:
Boil potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain the potatoes through a sieve. Mashed potato the soft peeled potatoes through a sieve in another bowl. Chop
the parsley finely, grate the cheese on a small grater

Add cheese and parsley to the mashed potatoes, mix. Pour cornstarch into the mashed potatoes, mix.
Pour vegetable oil into the mixture, knead dough onto parchment. Cover the dough with a second sheet of parchment, roll out into a thin layer with a rolling pin.
Remove any uneven edges from the dough, use cookie cutters or a glass to cut out shapes or tortillas.
In a frying pan in vegetable oil, fry the tortillas until browned on both sides.
For the sauce, cut mushrooms into thin slices and fry in a pan with vegetable oil. Salt the fried mushrooms, pour flour to them. Pour milk into the mixture, bring to thickening, pepper.
You get an excellent dish of potato cakes with sauce. This dish is good for a snack.
