“Herring under a fur coat” is considered a classic of Russian cooking. This salad originated in the early 20th century and has since undergone slight changes. Ingredients:
- potatoes – 3 pcs;
- herring fillet – 220 g;
- onion – 1 pc;
- boiled eggs – 3 pcs;
- pickled cucumbers – 3 pieces;
- processed cheese – 2 pcs;
- green onions – a bunch;
- salt – ½ tsp;
- sugar – 1 tsp;
- 9% vinegar – 3 tbsp;
- water – 150 ml.
Preparation of salad “Herring under snow”:
Cut a small diced onion, mix with salt, sugar and vinegar. Pour water over the onions, stir and marinate for 15-20 minutes. Chop
finely pickled cucumbers, chop green onions. Grate coarsely grated cooked potatoes, mix with salt, pepper and mayonnaise.
Put the potato layer, smear with a mesh of mayonnaise

On the potatoes put small pieces of herring
. Remove the liquid from the onion and put it on the layer of herring. Sprinkle the onion layer with green onions, smear with mayonnaise.
