Potato pies are a classic of modern cuisine. And it is impossible to call this pastry traditional or historical. The fact is that potatoes were brought to Europe in the XVI century. But, even after its appearance on the territory of European countries, for a long time the vegetable was only an ornamental plant.
To consume food and even more so to put potatoes in pies became relatively recently – in the XVIII century. Now it is difficult to imagine that pies can not be combined with potato filling.

Ingredients for potato pie:
- Warm milk – 400 ml;
- Sugar – 1.5 tsp;
- Salt – tsp;
- Yeast – 0.5 tsp;
- Flour – 500 g;
- Butter – 70 g;
- Potatoes – 300 g;
- Cheese – 500 g.
Preparation of potato pie:
In a bowl with warm milk, mix salt, granulated sugar and yeast. Sift flour into the mixture, knead a slightly sticky dough.
Melt 50 grams of butter, pour into the dough, continue kneading

Leave the elastic and soft dough for 20 minutes under a lid or cellophane.
Boil peeled potatoes until ready. Add butter to the potatoes, salt and mashed potato them.
Grate cheese on small grating cutters and mix with the mashed potatoes. Knead

Shape small tortillas from each part of the dough with your hands. Place the potato filling on top of the flatbreads. Seal the mashed potatoes inside the dough as if in a bag.
Place the pies seam-side down and press down lightly with your hands to make them flatter and larger in diameter.
Place the pies on a parchment-lined baking tray. Bake the pies in the oven for 40 minutes at 180 degrees.
After cooking, do not forget to grease the pies with butter.
