Cherries have been a cultivated plant for 2,000 years. The seeds of these berries have been found by archaeologists among the buildings of primitive people.
Different varieties of cherries grow everywhere and can be found both wild and cultivated. More than 130 species and about 200 varieties of cherries are known. For example, sakura, an ornamental tree in Japan, is also a type of cherry.
Today we will make a cherry pie with a crumbly, crunchy base. Instead of regular dough, we will use sand crumbles.
Ingredients for the crumble:
- Flour – 300 g;
- Sugar – 100 g;
- Butter – 200 g;
- Vanilla sugar – 10 g.
Ingredients for cherry filling:
- Cherries – 600 g;
- Sugar – 80 g;
- Cornstarch – 30 g;
- Ground nuts – 3 tbsp.
Preparation of cherry pie:
In a deep bowl, mix the flour and vanilla sugar. Stir with a spatula. Add butter slightly melted at room temperature. Use your hands to grind the ingredients into crumbs.
Cover the bottom of the round mold with parchment. Spread half of the crumbs evenly over the entire surface.
Press down lightly. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and bake for about 15-18 minutes. During this time the dough will brown slightly on the edges.
Prepare the filling. Remove the pips from the cherries and drain the excess juice. Add starch to the berries, stir.
Take the billet out of the oven and sprinkle the base with ground nuts or breadcrumbs
.
They will absorb excess moisture from the filling.
Then make a layer of cherries and cover everything with the rest of the crumbs.
We send it to the oven for 40-45 minutes at 190 degrees.
When the pie cools down, we take it out of the mold. Cherry pie is ready, it remains only to slice it and serve to the table. A great solution to tea, use it!
