Sometimes people argue about the correct name for tomatoes. The fact is that some people think that tomato is an inappropriate name for this vegetable. However, as philologists say, both names are correct.
Tomato is the name of tomatoes, which came to Europe from the Aztecs. This people cultivated tomatoes even before Europeans invaded their lands. Tomato
from Italian means golden apple. Because of the love for the taste of tomatoes in Italy, this vegetable received a special name.

Ingredients for pickled tomatoes:
- tomatoes – 3 kg;
- garlic – 2 pcs;
- bell pepper – 2 pcs;
- allspice;
- black peas;
- bay leaf;
- 9% vinegar;
- water – 3 liters;
- salt – 3 tbsp;
- sugar – 8 tbsp.
Preparation of pickled tomatoes:
Poke each tomato with a toothpick several times. Remove the insides of bell peppers and cut into large longitudinal pieces.
Peeled garlic cloves are divided
lengthwise
into two parts each. At the bottom of sterilized jars put a few peas of oregano pepper, black pepper, bay leaves. You can also put there an umbrella of dill
. We put garlic cloves on the bottom, carefully lay out the tomatoes and pieces of bell pepper. Fill the jars with steep boiling water, cover with lids and let stand for 10-15 minutes.

Next, pour the water from the jars into a saucepan, pour salt and sugar to it. Bring the water to a boil, and then cook for 2-3 minutes.
Pour vinegar into the jars, for 1.5 liters will need 1.5 tbsp, 9% vinegar. Pour back into the jars boiling brine, screw on the lids.
You can roll the jars on the table so that the brine penetrates all the layers between the tomatoes.
Cover the jars with a towel and leave to cool. This is one of the easiest ways to pickle tomatoes.
