The history of chebureks began in the Middle Ages in the Middle East. Initially, they were thin flatbreads filled with seasoned meat and fried in lamb fat. Over time, the recipe for chebureks spread all over the world.
Different countries and regions have their own peculiarities of cooking this dish. For example, in Russia chebureks are made of unleavened dough with meat filling, and in Turkey – of custard dough with cheese. In addition to classic recipes with meat, there are more interesting variants. For example, sweet chebureks with cream. They are more like cakes than hearty pies.
